Outboard motor break-in service

Spring Run Ups

After months of cold temperatures, inactivity, and the stress of freeze-thaw cycles, even a well-maintained boat can develop issues that aren't visible to the naked eye. Fuel can degrade and leave deposits in the system. Rubber seals and gaskets can dry out and crack. Battery charge can drop below recovery levels. Cooling passages can accumulate debris or develop blockages. The Spring Start-Up service exists to catch all of these issues before they strand you on the water — or worse, cause serious damage to your engine or hull mid-season. Our Spring Start-Up service covers a thorough inspection and servicing of your entire powertrain and onboard systems. Our technicians perform a full engine inspection including spark plug condition, ignition timing, and compression testing where applicable. We flush and inspect the cooling system to ensure proper water flow and thermostat function after the winter months.

The fuel system is inspected and treated, including the fuel filter, fuel lines, primer bulb, and carburetor or fuel injection system depending on your motor. We inspect and test the battery, charging system, and all electrical connections — replacing or cleaning as needed. Steering, throttle, and shift cables are inspected and lubricated for smooth, safe operation. The lower unit gear lube is inspected for water contamination and replaced if necessary. The propeller is inspected for damage, and all zincs and anodes are checked for corrosion and replaced if worn.
